Musicians from dozens of countries, theater and art,

the Colour Meeting festival invites you to Polička.

The sixteenth edition of the multi-genre festival, Colour Meeting, will take place in Polička, CZ, on July 26-27 2019. Music, theater, fine art and short-term exhibitions, home-made cuisine served on porcelain in a unique location between the medieval walls and the local pond.

The festival program is filled with lots of names of international artists: RURA, one of the most fascinating bands of the contemporary Scottish folk scene; MY BABY, the New Zealand-Dutch trio renowned for their music experiments and unusual combinations of blues, dance electronic and psychedelia; Curse of Lono from the UK will introduce their fresh new album 4am and Counting; Ilaria Graziano & Francesco Forni, who’d been cooperating with the singer Marianne Faithfull, director Paolo Sorrentini or writer Robert Saviani, will mix their recipe for folk, blues and dolce vita.

The rhythms of Transylvanian folklore, the call of the Appalachian mountains and the dark roots of doom and stoner styles are mixed by the hungarian singer-songwriter David Makó aka The Devil’s Trade. Boom Pam is returning to the Czech Republic after several years with their original use of surf rock mixed with Jewish, Balkan and Roma music. The French duo Bâton Bleu transforms blues into their own image, alongside guitar and banjo, they use Mongolian lute, tovshuur, aulos flute, kalimba, children's chimes and percussions; being inspired by the Mediterranean, Arabia and chanson.

The dramaturgy also offers representatives of the Czech and Slovak scene. Kapitán Demo will perform with a humor of his own. The wild Czech-Irish band Pipes and Pints is coming over with their new studio album. Colour Meeting will also welcome the Anděl award-winning Floex and exceptional singer-songwriters Bára Zmeková and Monika Mindriaková aka Leto s Monikou. Dreamy vocals, a combination of dream pop and indie folk, is blended together by teepee; post-apocalyptic songs undermined by dense electronics are the hallmark of Kittchen & Aid Kid's new joint project; a brilliant show by Lazer Viking is expected; the work of female poets will be performed by Wolf Lost In the Poem; and Heleeli will present a special insight into the teenage soul.

As the very first Czech festival, Colour Meeting joined the Keychange initiative, which strives for a balanced representation of female and male performers on stage. “When deciding on the festival’s dramaturgy, I never dealt with the gender question. I value originality, quality and discovery. However, when the wave of incomprehensible resistance rose against Keychange, I realized that we had to support the initiative, “ says Dušan Svíba, the art director of the festival .

Colour Meeting also includes handicrafts, art installations and theaters. V.O.S.A. Theater will present a unique parade performance accompanied by live music, breathtaking self-movements and sounds of the city of Polička. Divadlo Continuo, a puppet show, will process the topic of responsibility from ones decisions, and overcoming the fear and power of our actions.
